Food Trip Friday 033: Pork chop, tofu, and steamed veggies

Tonight I was feeling a bit under the weather and so it is one of those times when I didn't feel like spending so much time in the kitchen. I'm sure you all probably feel the same at some point. So tonight, as per usual whenever I am not up to cooking, I just made this fried pork chop (this was marinated beforehand) and tofu and assorted steamed veggies.

It's fast and no fuss and delicious, too, if you get the pork marinade right.

How about you, what do you prepare when you don't feel like cooking? I would love it if you could share your recipes :)

Food Trip Friday 032: Thai eggplant and ground pork

Don't let this sorry-looking photo stop you from ordering this at the Lemon Grass Restaurant. It tastes better than it looks. It definitely made up for the lousy pad thai and green chicken curry that we ordered along side this dish.

The ground pork sits on top of grilled (and peeled) eggplant splashed with a sweet-and-sour sauce. The Thai basil and mint provides extra herbal goodness while the peanuts give it a nutty/crunchy factor.

Food Trip Friday 032: Special ensaymada and mamon

Two weeks ago, my younger brother went to the Philippines for a short holiday. It was the Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni's birthday and it was celebrated for three days plus he took some days off to enjoy a 10day holiday. When he came back, I was surprised to receive a boxful of Goldilock's special ensaymada and mamon, thanks to his girlfriend, Jasmin.

The sight of the familiar yellow and blue colors of Goldilocks made me salivate, an instant response that reminded me of the experiment conducted by a psychologist named Pavlov a long, long time ago. And who wouldn't be, just look at that oh-so-sweet goodness? The ensaymada - topped with cheese and sugar with bits of hamis a total indulgence while the mamon had cheese on top, which my husband found weird (*lol*) but the sponge cake itself was nice. Having mamon and ensaymada after such a long time (more than 2 years is a long time!) definitely satisfied my craving for something that reminds me of home.

Again, madamo guid nga salamat, Min-min :)
